Parallel linear earthwork banks are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. Their broadly cross-contour orientation is indicative of post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks, and this plot of land was named ‘Huckland Orchard’ on the Tithe apportionment and orchard trees were depicted on the late-19th century OS mapping. They are interpreted as orchard banks that went out of use in the second part of the 20th century.
