Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Farm building is depicted on Tithe Map.


Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Unchanged from the Tithe Map depiction. Building is a narrow rectangular structure, aligned north-east by south-west and lies close to a further farm building in the south-eastern corner of the farm.

The early 20th century historic map shows the building has been enlarged and now joins the building at the south-eastern corner of the farm.

Shippon is thought to date to the early-19th century (or earlier). One storey, gabled with a one storey extension to the southern end. Abuts modern structures.

Depicted on the modern mapping, but now abuts large modern farm buildings on the western and northern sides. The old building at the south-eastern side of the farm has now gone.
