The Roman road from Honiton to Exeter passes through Whimple parish. The line from SY04929598 to SY06559642 is marked as ROMAN ROAD (course of) on the 1972 1:10,000 Ordnance Survey map. This stretch of road was visible as a crop mark in 1983.
