Full description

Urmston, Ben, 2008, Avon Support Main, between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV358939.

A geophysical survey was undertaken of a proposed 13km water main between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. Several sites of archaeological interest were identified. Two complexes of enclosures of clear archaeological potential have been identified, one to the east of Boringdon Camp, a known Iron Age site, and another to the west of Sparkwell.
Linear anomalies at 4060 and 4061 are similar in response to former field boundaries although, given their lack of width, it is possible that they are related to drainage. Several other linear anomalies on similar alignments may be of some archaeological interest.

Taylor, S. R., 2009, Avon SWW Pipeline, Devon: Archaeological Mitigation Archive report, 23, Fig. 15 (Report - Assessment). SDV364052.

A recut ditch [1410] was recorded in Area G15. It appears to be part of the group of anomalies identified in the geophysical survey. Aligned north-west to south-east, it was on the same alignment as current field boundaries. A single flint flake was found in the same field.
