Full description

Newman , P., 2001, Headland Warren Part 2: Medieval Settlement and Enclosures, 6, Figure 2-3 (Report - Survey). SDV360131.

At the head of the Redwater valley where tinworking is at its most intense vestigal remains of hedge-banks reveal the position of more Medieval fields. Although now isolated form the fields to the south they were once part of the main patchwork. A single curved hedge-bank running between two large tinworks is all that remains of the boundary of what was once a cultivated field where three faint lynchets run horizontally along the contour. Two later pillow mounds survive within the field. At the western exterior of the field another bank runs parallel with the hedge-bank for part of its course is suggestive of a droveway or moorlane, providing access to the commons from the lower fields. Map object partly based on this source.

English Heritage, 2005, Medieval Survey Information (Report - Survey). SDV345602.

Medieval field boundaries shown on survey surrounded on three side by later tinworks. Map object partly based on this source.

Historic England, 2017, National Heritage List for England, 1021340 (National Heritage List for England). SDV359963.

During the Medieval period much of Headland Warren was enclosed by a series of fields many of which would have been associated with the farmstead at NGR SX 68488076. The farmstead includes at least two longhouses and associated enclosures.
