The earthwork bank does not correspond with any field boundaries depicted in this location.

A former field boundary of potential medieval date is visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of 1946 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2008, to the south of Coombeshead Farm, Hemyock. The linear earthwork is north to south aligned and adjoins two historic, but now removed, field boundaries depicted at its northern extent on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48. The earthwork is not, however, shown on this map, so had evidently passed out of use by this time.
