An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1946 show that the orchard is largely covered in trees, although by 1989, these have been partly cleared, exposing a series of linear northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.84 hectares of moderate southeast facing slope, within a single irregular shaped plot. An additional triangular shaped area of possible earthwork banks to the immediate southwest may also represent the location of a former orchard.
