Full description

Gardner, K. S., 1957, A Mesolithic Survey of North Devon, 165-6 (Article in Serial). SDV7582.

Gardner records that sealed between two layers of blue clay is a 'kitchen midden' of sea shells, animal bones and a typical Mesolithic flint assemblage. He suggests that the waste material recorded by Revd. Winwood as having been found on Northam Burrows and now in the collection at Bristol Museum may have come from this vicinity.

Timms, S. C., 1980, Flints (Mesolithic) (Worksheet). SDV7694.

Grinsell describes a scatter of microburins, cores and flakes in Bristol Museum, found by Rev. Winwood at Northam. However, the source that he cites (TDA 89, 1957 p165-6) suggests Westward Ho! as the provenance.

Collings, A. G. + Manning, P. T. + Valentin, J., 2007, The North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Phase 1. Archaeological Survey. Summary Report, No. 258 (Report - Assessment). SDV339712.

University of Southampton, 2018, North Devon Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey Desk-Based Assessment, 224 (Interpretation). SDV361978.

Location is very approximate; the description references Westward Ho!, c2.5km to the south-west.
