A possible former extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2008, on southeast facing slope at Lane End Farm, Hemyock. The sub-oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 60m in length by 45m in width. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted in this location on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, suggesting the pit had passed out of use by the mid-late 19th century.
