An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, Aerial photographs of 1947 show that the orchard is largely covered in fruit trees, although by 1989 these have mostly been cleared. The earthwork banks, visible only on lidar images, are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.40 hectares of southeast facing slope, within a single rectilinear shaped plot. An earlier extractive pit (MDV118923) occupies the northwest extent of the former orchard.
