An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1971 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, at Simons Burrow Farm, Hemyock. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1947, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been partly cleared. The earthworks, first visible in 1971, are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of 0.14 hectares of southeast facing slope, within a single triangular shaped plot.
