A former field boundary of potential medieval date is visible as two earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1971 and partly on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, on southwest facing slopes, to the northeast of Simonsburrow, Hemyock. The two visible sections of earthwork bank form a single slight curvilinear and northeast to southwest aligned field boundary. The earthworks closely respect the historic field patterns depicted here on the Hemyock Parish Tithe map of 1838-48 based on medieval enclosures, although the visible earthworks do not correspond with any field boundaries shown here on this map, or subsequent historical maps made available to the survey, suggesting the field boundary had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
