Cropmarks which have formed over levelled banks of possible former medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs of 1971, on southwest facing slopes to the northeast of Nicholashayne Farm, Culmstock. The former field boundaries respect the historic field patterns depicted here on the Parish Tithe map characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although the visible cropmarks do not correspond with any field boundaries shown here on this map, or subsequent historical maps made available to the survey, suggesting the field boundaries had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
