Cropmarks which have formed over levelled banks of possible former medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs of 1946, to the west of Upcott Dairy, Culmstock. The linear and parallel cropmarks are northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned and closely respect the historic field patterns depicted here on the Culmstock Parish Tithe map of 1838-48 characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The visible cropmarks do not correspond with any field boundaries shown here on this map, or subsequent historical maps made available to the survey, suggesting the field boundaries had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
