Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1971 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, at Keepers Cottage, Hemyock. The earthworks, which are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.70 hectares of east facing slope, may represent the remains of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. An orchard is depicted in the adjacent plot on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, which gives greater weight to the interpretation that an orchard was present here, although if this is the case, then it had evidently passed out of use by the late 19th century.
