An irregularly shaped earthwork pit, circa 20 by 50 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. It is not depicted on any available historic mapping and is interpreted as a post-medieval or nineteenth century extractive pit. The area has since become wooded but images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 indicate that the earthwork survives.
