An irregular earthwork pit, along the south side of Sector Lane, is visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is not depicted on the available historic mapping and it is interpreted as a post-medieval or nineteenth century extractive pit. Uneven land, visible along the lane to the east and west and depicted as scrubby ground on the historic maps, appears similar but could have resulted from extraction but is perhaps more likely to be a sunken lane.
