A roughly oval earthwork mound, circa 5 by 6 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is depicted on the late-19th century mapping, and seems to overlie the parallel linear earthworks interpreted as post-medieval orchard banks (MDV119085). Its function is not clear, but it seems likely that it was associated with the post-medieval designed landscape of Sector Park. Although its low lying situation is not typical it could perhaps be a prospect mound, or may have been part of the adjacent rifle range, as it is located around the mark of the 300 yard butt.
