Full description

The visible earthwork does not correspond with a depicted field boundary.

A linear bank up to 5 metres wide was visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 as a low earthwork circa 60 metres long to the south of Sheafhayne manor, Yarcombe parish.
The earthwork does not corresponded with any field boundary depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, the plot in which it is located depicted on the OS First Edition map as an orchard.
As such, it has been interpreted as the remains of a field boundary of medieval to early 19th-century date.
