Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

An irregularly shaped pit up to 66 metres across was visible as an earthwork digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but a small area if scrub vegetation was depicted in this location.
This might support the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century. A shallow linear earthwork hollow extending southwest from the pit might be evidence of an approach track as well as a former field boundary. The pit was visible as an earthwork partly obscured by trees on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and remains largely obscured by trees on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
