The visible earthwork does not correspond with any depicted pit feature but does match a plot cultivated as an orchard.

The pit is visible as a shallow earthwork.

A roughly oval pit circa 75 by 50 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey but do fall within a plot depicted as an orchard on the OS First Edition 25 inch map. This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks may be the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century and was subsequently reused as an orchard. A number of structures and an access track are visible within the pit on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
