Two irregularly shaped pits up were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of extractive pits that had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
