Bluesky International, 2016, LiDAR DTM data (0.5m resolution) Blackdown Hills and East Devon AONBs: 3 transects, LIDAR ST2508 Bluesky International DTM 24-APR-2016 & 30-APR-2016 (Cartographic). SDV359714.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

An irregularly shaped pit and possible small spoil heap were visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The visible earthworks correspond with a pit depicted as an Old Marl Pit in this location on the OS First Edition 25 inch map. At the time of survey the pit also remains depicted on the OS MasterMap.
As such it would not normally be recorded by the survey. However, it has been recorded as the extractive pit appears to cut a curvilinear bank recorded separately as a possible former field boundary of medieval date. The earthworks remained obscured from view on aerial photographs by dense woodland in 2014.

Ordnance Survey, 2017, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV359962.

A disused pit is depicted as an earthwork.
