South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.
The visible earthwork did not correspond with any depicted pit but fell within plot 980, listed as Shed House Orchard

An irregularly shaped pit circa 75 by 30 metres across was visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but fell within plot 980 on the Tithe Map for Membury, named as Shed House Orchard.
This might support the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive pit that had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century and were subsequently utilised as an orchard.
