Former field boundaries of between medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1948, northwest of Cordwent’s Farmhouse, Clayhidon. The possible field boundaries comprise two parallel and linear northeast to southwest aligned banks, with a linear north to south aligned spur visible off the northern of the two banks. Short sections of bank associated with the field boundaries are also visible further to the north and to the west. The double-banked earthworks may also form part of a trackway. The earthworks closely respect the historic field patterns shown here on the 1838-48 Parish Tithe map, although do not correspond with any features shown in this location on this map, or subsequent historic maps made available to the survey. This supports the interpretation that the field boundaries had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
