Former extractive pits of possible post-medieval to mid-late 19th century date are visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2008, to the southeast of Garlandhayes, Clayhidon. The northern of the two earthworks is ovoid in shape and measures approximately 40m in length by 28m in width, with that to the south elongated in shape and measuring approximately 40m in length by 12m in width. The northern of the two earthworks corresponds with a copse shown in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, although that to the south does not correspond with any such features. The extractive pits had likely passed out of use by the mid-late 19th century.
