Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 and 1948 at Wiltown Valley Farm, Clayhidon. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established for increased soil depth and improved drainage, are east to west aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.08 hectares of southeast facing slope, within a single land parcel adjacent to Wiltown Valley Farm. A linear northwest to southeast aligned field boundary, which is depicted on historic maps, defines the eastern edge of these orchard banks. The orchard banks are not visible on aerial photographs after 1948, or modern digital images made available to the survey and their current survival is unknown.
