An earthwork pit, approximately 30 by 60 metres in extent, is visible as an earthwork on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. No pit is depicted on the available historic mapping, and it is tentatively interpreted as the remains of a post-medieval or 19th century former extractive pit that became disused by the late-19th century. ‘Workings’ recorded in an adjacent field, which is named ‘Coalpits Close’ on the Tithe apportionment (MDV49738), may be associated with this feature.
