Location of deerpark in e part of great potheridge estate is indicated by a 1574 licence for the building of a weir across the torridge to supply the leat to blynsham mills. This describes the weir as lying "ageynst and upon the landes. Of. Poddridge parke" (see dro).

Saxton's convention of showing the park ringing the house is indicative only of the presence of a park on the estate. The park is also mentioned in an early 18c account (see dro) as being 'many years disparked', and as having a lodge. This may be identified with potheridge lodge which, from the 18c at least, was located in the e of the estate.
