Former field boundaries of probable medieval origin were visible on aerial photographs of 1996 and images derived from aerial photographs of 2001 as linear and curvilinear earthwork banks up to circa 5 metres wide, on the south-west facing slopes south-west of Burridge, Chardstock parish.
The visible banks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the historic maps available to the survey and are of different character to the surrounding field pattern as depicted on 19th century maps, which is probably of post-medieval or later date. The relict banks were therefore removed by the late 19th century but are probably of medieval origin.
