Four possible curvilinear banks circa 40 to 100 metres long and on average 2 metres wide were visible as slight earthworks on aerial photographs of 1948 on North Common, Yarcombe parish.
The visible banks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, but are potentially in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, particularly to the south-east. The banks are interpreted as the remains of field boundaries, possibly evidence of encroachment onto the common in the medieval or post-medieval period that had passed out of use by the late 19th century.
The common is largely obscured from view by dense vegetation on more recent images and the survival and condition of the possible bank are unknown.
