Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.
Not shown on early 20th century map.
Fletcher, M., 2000, The Ferro Ceramic Mine and Shaugh Brickworks, Meavy, 6, Figure 3 (Report - Survey). SDV360342.
The brickworks were constructed on an arificially levelled expanse of ground created partly by cutting into the hillside and also by building up the natural western side over much of the river flood plain. A substantial retaining wall (H) up to 2.7.metres high indicates the extent of the cut. The wall is constructed from natural and quarried boulders and stones with a low wall to the south. The retaining wall extends 8.5 metres to the north of the pit (L) although it is shown as terminating at the end of the pit in 1886. Map object partly based on this source.
