Summary

A series of former medieval to post-medieval field boundaries to the southwest of Wortham, Thrushelton, are visible as curvilinear earthwork ditches and a linear bank on aerial photographs taken in 1947.

Transcriptions of curvilinear ditches and a linear bank correspond to the grid reference for PRN167168.

Four removed field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (p1) and were digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. One survives as a low earth bank, the other three as ditches. The boundaries lie partly within an area classed as medieval enclosures and partly within an area classed as rough ground showing signs of earlier use as agricultural land in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon. They fit into the present day field pattern and are likely to be medieval or later in origin.
