A small area of ridge and furrow cultivation is visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs (p1) and was digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. The wide rigs clearly predate a field boundary shown on the 1st Edition 1:2500 OS map. They lie within an area classed as medieval enclosures based on strip fields in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon and are likely to be medieval in origin.
