Full description

Grinsell, L. V., 1970, The Barrows of North Devon, 113 (Article in Serial). SDV7849.

Site visit 8th April 1969. Approximately 20 paces diameter, 2 feet high.There is a strong suggestion of a round barrow here in line with three other barrows, indicated by a swell as the road from Burrington Moor Cross passes over it.

Site visit 22nd November 1995. Eastern of 4 round barrows. Survives as 0.5 metre high oval mound, 16 metres north-south by 12.6 metres east-west. Ditch survives as buried feature circa 2 metres wide.

One of four bowl barrows aligned broadly east-west, and situated on Burrington Moor on an exposed hilltop on the watershed between the River Torridge to the west and the River Taw to the east. Together, these barrows form part of a larger group which occupies this upland ridgeway between the two major river systems.
