Cropmark remains of a ridge and furrow field system are visible on aerial photographs (p1). The features are sited within an area described as ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields' in Devon’s Historic Landscape Characterisation, and are likely to be of medieval or later origin. They have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.

The medieval, or later, ridge and furrow mentioned elsewhere within this record more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been double-indexed to reflect this.
