A series of cultivation marks, similar to straight, narrow ridge and furrow, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (p1) and were digitally plotted as part of the NMP. The marks are likely to be post medieval, possibly 20th century, in origin. Two associated cropmark ditches are also visible: these are likely to be drains. The features lie within an area classed as rough ground in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2017-2018, Backlog recording of the Winkleigh National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV360588.
The cultivation marks mentioned within this record by Young & Turner likely refer to the 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow.
