A complex of linear banks and ditches, forming large (120m x 100m) and small (53m x 26m) enclosures, is visible on aerial photographs (p1). They are on a different alignment to the extant field system, and are within an area described as ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’ in Devon’s Historic Landscape Characterisation. It is likely that these features are the remains of a settlement and associated field system of medieval or earlier origin. They have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
