An old quarry is marked at this location on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 scale map. It is visible as an extant feature on aerial photographs (p1) and was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The quarry is considered likely to be of C18 or C19 origin and is sited within an area described as broad-leaved plantations, re-planted ancient woodland or secondary woodland that has grown up from scrub in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.
