The probable sites of two small post medieval quarries are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs (p1). The sites of these quarries are marked as unanotated hachures on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 scale map. They may therefore be of early C19 or earlier origin. The site was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as C18th and C19th post-medieval enclosures in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.
