Parallel ridging is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1) to the east of Warkleigh. It is considered likely to be medieval ridge and furrow. The site was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme and is sited within an area described as rough ground showing signs of earlier use as agricultural land in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2017-2018, Backlog recording of the Winkleigh National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV360588.

The medieval ridge and furrow mentioned by Young and Turner within this record more likely represents the earthwork remains of tree planting banks of a former orchard, shown in this location on the late 19th and early 20th century maps. This record has accordingly been double-indexed.
