The probable site of a post medieval quarry is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (p1). The site of the quarry is marked as an area of rough ground on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 scale map, it may therefore be of early C19 or earlier origin. It was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The feature is sited within an area described as post medieval enclosures with medieval elements in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon. These are enclosures probably based on medieval fields but with straight sided field boundaries suggesting substantial reorganisation in the post medieval period.
