Lakeland Medieval field system shown on 19th century maps with cornditches marking many of the boundaries. Lakeland was probably founded in the early 13th century. The farm has a classic ringfence appearance with cornditch walls as the outer boundary indicating a Medieval date. At the south-west end of Lakeland farm are fields of narrow ridge and furrow.
