Litchensteign, L. + Rainbird, P., 2017, Land off Burwood Lane, Caddywell Lane, Great Torrington, Devon: Evaluation (Report - Evaluation). SDV360843.

An archaeological trench evaluation on land off Burwood Lane, Caddywell Lane, Great Torrington, Devon was undertaken by AC Archaeology during August 2017 as supporting information for a planning application for a residential development. The evaluation also targeted anomalies recorded by an earlier geophysical survey.

Outside of the enclosure in Site C five postholes were present. Four of these were in a cluster
and the finds indicate that they may be of prehistoric date, although no structure that they belong
to could be discerned. A gully cut by the enclosure ditch indicates that there is more than one
phase of prehistoric use present on the site.

Sample 4 (509), from the posthole F510 in Trench 5 had more limited environmental potential, containing only occasional charcoal fragments, HNS, CPM, weed seeds, grain. The posthole fill, which is limited in volume, however still shows some domestic background.
