Summary

A number of cropmarks of pit features which form a ring are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1975. They have been interpreted as a possible post-medieval to 19th century ornamental tree ring.

A circle of eight small pits surrounding one central pit, each with a diameter of roughly 1.5m, is visible on aerial photos (p1). The pits form a ring with a diameter of 7m. It is possible that this feature is the remains of an ornamental landscape feature such as a tree grove or a plantation mound. It has been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
