Earthwork remains of a ridge and furrow field system are visible on aerial photos (p1). They are sited within an area described as ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields' in Devon’s Historic Landscape Characterisation, and are likely to be field boundaries of medieval origin. They have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.

The ridge and furrow mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow so as not to be confused with ridge and furrow typical of the medieval period.
