Summary

Cropmarks of a bank and ditch interpreted as a possible prehistoric enclosure are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1975, to the north of Newland Mill House, North Tawton. Given it's close proximity to the North Tawton military complex MDV103778, however, it could also be of Roman date. The enclosure intersects with cropmarks of a second possible enclosure or ring ditch MDV17626.

Transcriptions of a bank and ditch correspond to the grid reference for PRN166956.

A curvilinear enclosure of uncertain date is visible on aerial photos (p1). Its NE extents are not visible; it is possible that they have been erased by the creation of later field boundaries. The enclosure has a diameter of roughly 37m. It comprises an outer bank and inner ditch. It has been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
