Full description

Young, A., 2005, Transcriptions from Winkleigh Biomass Plant National Mapping Programme (NMP) project (Cartographic). SDV321540.

Transcriptions of a linear bank correspond to the grid reference for PRN166735.

Young, A. & Turner, S., 2005-2006, North Devon/Winkleigh Biomass Plant National Mapping Programme (NMP) project database records, PRN166735 (Interpretation). SDV358473.

A linear bank, 340m long and 10m wide, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (p1) running in a roughly south-easterly direction, 150m to the north of Middle Reeve. The feature is of uncertain date and function. It's north-western end lies close to the Roman road (CIN 18457) at a point where there is a slight change in it's course. It may therefore be part of the original course of this Roman road although a geological origin cannot be entirely ruled out. This feature was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme.
