Parallel ridging is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1). It is considered likely to be post medieval cultivation marks or drainage features. The site was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as C18th and C19th post-medieval enclosures in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2017-2018, Backlog recording of the Winkleigh National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV360588.

The cultivation marks mentioned within this record by Young & Turner likely refer to the 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow.
