Nymet Tracey Churchyard SS72700
Recorded in 1959 – what may be the base of a cross stands in the churchyard on the north side of the chancel (inside or out?).
A probable cross base supports a pillar (interior) on the north side of the chancel. It is badly mutilated, having what appears to be a corner shoulder on its right hand side. The chancel was rebuilt in 1859-62 and again during the restoration of 1889.
The churchyard is kept neat and tidy; possible that the cross base has been removed sometime after 1959 when the churchyard was tidied up.
Perhaps the cross base is in use as a garden feature somewhere nearby.
Cross base 0.53 metres by 0.43 metres by 0.38 metres high.
